Scannell's loan deal from Linfield is expected to be processed ahead of the Portadown game this weekend at home to Warrenpoint Town.

If the former Northern Ireland Schoolboys international makes his debut at Shamrock Park it will mark an appearance against another club he has represented on loan as a Linfield player.

The 22-year-old left-back also featured in a more advanced role for Warrenpoint during loan spells across 2018 to 2020.

He was previously on the books at Carrick Rangers in another loan move, having made his senior Linfield debut in 2016.

Scannell and Portadown centre-back Adam McCallum were Linfield Swifts team-mates during the club's Steel and Sons Cup win in 2016.

"We are very pleased to get Eamon Scannell initially on loan from Linfield," said Tipton on the official Portadown website. "Eamon has a good pedigree and also has played over 50 games in the Irish League at a young age so ticks the boxes for what we want to do.

"Eamon is coming in to strengthen us at the left back department and possesses good athletic ability as well as tremendous delivery going forward.

"I must say thank you to David and Linfield for the manner this deal was done."
