West Ham have been placed on red alert with RB Leipzig striker Hwang Hee-Chan set for a Premier League loan move this month, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has struggled for game time this season, having made just eight appearances since completing a switch from Red Bull Salzburg last July.

And now, Bild have claimed Hwang is braced for a short-term spell in England - with West Ham thought to be one of the clubs interested in swooping for him.

The South Korea international put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Leipzig after impressing in Austria but is yet to score his maiden Bundesliga goal.

He has also started just two games this campaign, featuring from the off in the DFB Cup tie at FC Nurnberg and the Champions League clash with Istanbul Basaksehir.

Hwang was bought to help fill the void left behind by Timo Werner, and even took on the no 11 shirt vacated by the Germany ace after his departure for Chelsea.

West Ham, meanwhile, are actively on the hunt for a new frontman after selling Sebastien Haller to Ajax for £22million.

It has been suggested the London club may be tempted to make an approach with both parties potentially open to the idea.

Despite being renowned for his high energy performances, Hwang has struggled to find his form after contracting coronavirus in December.

Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann explained his star 'felt dead' for the first week of his recovery after suffering from 'very strong symptoms'.

Hwang is the latest forward to have been linked with making a move to West Ham.

Celtic man Odsonne Edouard has reportedly been identified as a suitable replacement for Haller in a deal worth around £35m.

Bournemouth's Joshua King and Sevilla hitman Youssef En-Nesyri have also been linked with Moyes' side.
