© Provided by The Independent Frank Lampard is set to be sacked as Chelsea manager today. A report by the Daily Telegraph says the players have been asked to come into training later in the afternoon on Monday after Lampard is dismissed.
The Chelsea hierarchy have lost faith in the club legend who steered the club to a top-four finish last season but failed to maintain that momentum in the new campaign, despite a summer splurge on expensive new signings.
Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have struggled to settle at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea find themselves ninth in the table, well out of the title race picture.
Owner Roman Abramovich is famously impatient when it comes to his head coach and there appears no wiggle room even for Lampard, despite clinching victory over Luton Town in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Most of Europe's top managers would be interested in the job, despite the short life expectancy, given the sheet talent available to them at the club. But there is one man who appears to be the stand-out favourite: Thomas Tuchel, the former Borussia Dortmund and PSG manager who is currently available.
Tuchel is German and that is thought to be key to his potential appointment, given the struggles of Germany internationals Werner and Havertz, while defender Antonio Rudiger is also a compatriot.
Here are the odds for the next Chelsea manager.
