Australian fans will get their first look at world number one Ash Barty at 'A Day at the Drive', the official curtain-raiser to the Australian Open.

Barty will then finalise her preparations at the Gippsland Trophy or Yarra Valley Classic.

WHEN IS ASH BARTY PLAYING NEXT?

Ash Barty's next appearance will be at 'A Day at the Drive', the official curtain-raiser for the Australian Open in Adelaide.

She will be joined by a world-class field for the exhibition, including Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep.

Barty has had considerable success in Adelaide, having won the Adelaide International in 2020.

ASH BARTY AT THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN

Ash Barty made it all the way to the semi-finals of the Australian Open before succumbing to rising American star Sofia Kenin.

Kenin went on to beat Garbine Muguruza in a three-set classic, coming from behind for a 4-6 6-2 6-2 win.

Barty's exit continues Australia's 42-year wait for a home-grown Australian Open winner.

Speaking after the exit, the Queenslander said she was disappointed but still pleased with her performances over the home season.

"It's disappointing, but it's been a hell of a summer," Barty said.

"If you would have told me three weeks ago that we would have won a tournament in Adelaide, made the semi-finals of the Australian Open, I'd take that absolutely every single day of the week."

Significantly, she beat Petra Kvitova in the quarter-final, avenging her loss to the Czech in the 2019 Open.

Barty won a tense opening set against Kvitova, before powering away in the next to claim a 7-6(6) 6-2 win.

She became the first Australian singles player to make the semis of the Australian Open since Lleyton Hewitt in 2005.

Barty had previously beaten Alison Riske in three sets, which followed a third-round victory over Elena Rybakina 6-3 6-2 and a second-round win over Polono Hercog, 6-1, 6-4.

Barty beat Lesia Tsurenko in three sets in the first round.

She is coming off a huge win at the Adelaide International on Saturday, claiming her first title on home soil.

Barty enters the Australian Open as the world number one and the top seed. After winning in Adelaide, she will hold onto the top ranking in the world no matter what happens at Melbourne Park.

ASH BARTY RANKING

Although she couldn't get over the line at the Australian Open, Barty is still ranked number one in the world.

After a sensational end to 2019 in which she won the WTA Finals and made the final of the China Open, Barty has a 2500 point lead over Simona Halep at the top of the WTA rankings.

Former long-time world number one Halep is 500 points ahead of third placed Karolina Pliskova, with Elina Svitolina and Belinda Bencic rounding out the top five.

HOW OLD IS ASH BARTY?

Ash Barty is still just 23 years old.

She will turn 24 on April 14.

ASH BARTY HEIGHT

Ash Barty is 1.66m tall.

That's 5 feet 4 inches.

ASH BARTY WINS ADELAIDE INTERNATIONAL

Barty claimed her first title on Australian soil with a 6-2 7-5 victory over the dangerous Dayana Yastremska

Barty sailed through the first set, before Yastremska fought back early in the second. Playing with well-hidden changes of pace, Barty earned the crucial break in the 12th game of the second set, and held her nerve to serve for the win.

"This is incredible ... a great start to the year," Barty said.

"I definitely feel the love out here, I love playing in Australia, I love playing at home, it's been incredible for my team to enjoy this week.

"It was nice to get the balling rolling this week ... and I can't wait to get started in Melbourne on Monday."

Earlier in the tournament, Barty came from a set down to beat Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 4-6 6-3 7-5, before beating Marketa Vondrousova 6-3 6-3.

Barty also beat Vondrousova in the final of the French Open last year to claim her debut major win.

In the semi-finals in Adelaide, Barty came from a set down against Danielle Collins, claiming a 3-6 6-1 7-6(5) win to set up a decider against Yastremska.

ASH BARTY AT THE BRISBANE INTERNATIONAL

The world number one enjoyed a bye in the first round in Brisbane, but was shocked in her first match of 2020 by American Jennifer Brady.

Brady, who had beaten Maria Sharapova in the first round, ambushed Barty, recording a 6-4 7-6(4) win.

In the doubles at the same event, Barty and Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens advanced to the final against Barbora Strycova and Hsieh Su-wei.

Barty and Bertens won the first set, and had a matchpoint opportunity in the second, but the more experienced duo of Strycova and Hsieh pulled off an epic comeback to take the title 3-6 7-6(7) 10-8 in the third set super tiebreak.
