She was given a six-month suspended jail sentence in 2017 for bribing a government official to unlawfully obtain a driver's licence.

And now, almost four years on, Paulini Curuenavuli has described her decision to break the law as 'the dumbest thing' she's ever done in her life.

The former Australian Idol star, 38, told Woman's Day: 'When I look back I just can't believe how naive and stupid I was... not a day goes by where I don't shake my head and think, "What were you thinking, girl?" I'm so sorry.'

The I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here star went on to say she could have handled the situation differently.

'I wanted to handle the situation very differently to the way it was,' she said.

'My management at the time wanted me to say and do nothing, and I did as I was told, which I now regret.'

Paulini claimed she had wanted to own up publicly and admit she'd been 'foolish', but instead she remained quiet.

She will address her run-in with the law on Monday night's episode of I'm a Celebrity.

'I bribed a government official,' she said in a trailer, leaving her co-stars shocked.
