The Brisbane Broncos are confident Jamayne Isaako will make a quick recovery despite suffering an ankle sprain at training.

Panic ripped through the Broncos training facility today after Isaako went down during a training session.

Fortunately, any fears of the 24-year-old potentially suffering a major injury were quickly put to rest following an assessment performed by the club's medical staff.

"Jamayne sustained a lateral ankle sprain at training today. After an initial assessment we believe he will make a fast recovery and return to training next week," Broncos Head of Performance Andrew Croll said.

In other injury news, Corey Oates, who injured his hand during a tackling drill last week, will avoid surgery but is expected to miss the next four to six weeks of pre-season training duties.

"He has been reviewed by a surgeon and a hand therapist and at this stage the best course of action is hand splinting and he doesn't require surgery," said Croll.

"He will be reviewed regularly by the specialist to ensure his recovery is progressing, with the hope of him returning to full training between 4-6 weeks' time."
