Keith Lasley has made his pitch to become the new Motherwell manager.

Stephen Robinson's No.2 and current interim boss was interviewed by the Fir Park board on Tuesday.

Lasley wants the chance replace Robinson full-time but Well's 3-0 loss to Hamilton at the weekend weakened his case.

Former Salford City boss Graham Alexander is in the frame, as is ex-Leeds and Sunderland manager Simon Grayson.

The Fir Park board will continue interviews on Wednesday and former St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright will be amongst the men they see.

Motherwell are sitting second bottom of the Premiership and are keen to get the manager's

position sorted out sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile Well are set to land former Livingston

and Rangers keeper Liam Kelly on loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has had to play second fiddle to Seny Dieng at Championship club QPR and is set to

leave Loftus Road for the remainder of the campaign.

Kelly travelled north on Monday to seal a deal and is expected to be registered in time for Well's trip to

St Mirren on Saturday.

Jordan Archer, who has just left Motherwell after his short-term deal expired, has signed a deal with English Championship side Middlesbrough.

Motherwell have had no luck between the sticks this season. Trevor Carson sustained a serious knee injury in October and, despite making his return on Boxing Day against Dundee United, limped off at Kilmarnock last week.

Summer signing Scott Fox hasn't kicked a ball for the club after rupturing knee ligaments pre-season.
