Aston Villa's match against Manchester City, scheduled for the opening day of the season, has been confirmed for Wednesday, January 20.
The game at the Etihad Stadium will be televised on BT Sport and will kick off at 8.15pm.
Dean Smith 's men were due to travel to Manchester on the second weekend of September when the 2020-21 season kicked off but the game was rescheduled because of City's European commitments deep into the summer.
Now the game has been pencilled in for a midweek game between a visit of Everton and a trip to Burnley.
That means Villa 's January programme has become even more punishing, with Friday's game against Manchester United kicking off a run of seven games in 30 days.

An FA Cup clash with Liverpool on January 8 is next up after United and seven matches could become eight should Villa win.
Tottenham Hotspur head to Villa on January 13 and the month is rounded off by the visit of Southampton.
There is still the postponed game against Newcastle United, which was called off because of a coronavirus outbreak at the St James' Park side, to be rearranged.
And Villa fans have been having their say on the addition of another game to their side's January schedule.
"Seven games in January," one fan said while another added: "It's mad, eight games in four weeks (Liverpool in the FA Cup to Arsenal), nine if we beat Liverpool."
"So Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton and Man City all in the space of 4 weeks," a third fan says. "It will certainly sort out if we are contenders or pretenders."
"January has no chill," another added while a fourth supporter said: "Just the seven games in January then!"
"That's as tough a January you can get," said a Villa fan.
