With the Britain's Got Talent Christmas special gracing telly schedules on the big day, fans are desperate to know what role Simon Cowell will play.

Head honcho Simon was unable to make it back to the UK for the main show earlier this year after suffering a brutal accident that saw him dashed to hospital.

And speculation is rife amid rumours of a video call cameo.

But Simon can rest easy knowing that his seat is being kept warm by BGT alum and Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo.

The star stepped in at the last minute after Simon's accident, and has proved a hit with fans since.

Now ITV have opted to bring him back for Christmas, Ashley's told that he's keen to keep going as long as Simon wants him.

"It'll just be nice for him to be back," Ashley remarked, looking to next year, "He's such a powerhouse and I'm so glad he is feeling better now after his accident.

"At the same time, if he wants me to continue for him, I'm more than happy."

Diversity Black Lives Matter-themed performance sparked a flood of positivity - as well as upwards of 24,000 complaints.

Logged to Ofcom, the broadcast regulator ruled not to investigate ITV.

It told the Mirror: "We carefully considered a large number of complaints about this artistic routine, an area where freedom of expression is particularly important.

"Diversity's performance referred to challenging and potentially controversial subjects, and in our view, its central message was a call for social cohesion and unity.

"Any depictions of violence by the performers were highly stylised and symbolic of recent global events, and there was no explicit reference to any particular political organisation - but rather a message that the lives of black people matter."

The routine became the second most complained about TV moment of the decade - second only to Roxanne Pallett's "punch-gate" on 2018's Celebrity Big Brother, which received 25,237.
