The NBA Board of Governors is expected to approve expanding active rosters to 15 from 13 players on game days, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Other items the board will reportedly approve Thursday include permanently adopting the coach's challenge and the sale of the Utah Jazz to tech billionaire Ryan Smith, according to Wojnarowski.

The expanded active rosters will give teams two extra players that can suit up for games, with positive coronavirus cases likely to impact the league this season. Under NBA rules, clubs can carry up to 17 players on their full rosters, including two players under two-way contracts with the G League.

The league instituted coach's challenges on a one-year trial basis in 2019.

Smith reached an agreement in October to purchase the Jazz from longtime owners, the Miller family, for a reported $1.6 billion.
