Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admits his Chelsea players are already feeling festive fatigue after their last-gasp Premier League defeat at Wolves.

Pedro Neto struck in the fifth minute of stoppage time to claim a 2-1 comeback win for the hosts after Daniel Podence cancelled out Olivier Giroud's opener.

Victory would have taken the visitors top of the Premier League but they slipped to back-to-back top-flight defeats for the first time in over a year.

Lampard said: 'There could be some fatigue. I hate to say it after a defeat because it feels like an excuse but even in the first 60 minutes when we were the better team, we didn't have a zip about us.

'We've travelled up to Everton, came back and then travelled to Wolves but everyone is in the same boat.

'We have a couple of injuries in areas which means I can't make too many changes so I understand that side of it.

'We have been given different kinds of games in these last two. Everton made it difficult for us to break them down - we didn't succeed with that - and Wolves played very much a counter-attacking style.

'The players have to feel that on the pitch because the message was very clear about their counter attack and individuals who could hurt us and that's disappointing.'

Chelsea great and Lampard's former team-mate Joe Cole agreed with the Blues manager, saying Wolves looked the fitter team as the match reached its final stages.

He said: 'I think Chelsea when they analyse that second-half will kick themselves. Particularly Neto's goal because they've lost their shape in attack. The game was getting end to end and Wolves looked like they had the fitter, stronger, athletic team.'

When asked whether he though Chelsea began to get fatigued he responded: 'I thought so.  You have to take into consideration they've had a fantastic Champions League campaign.

'I think Frank might have to look at this and take a view of some players who looked a bit leggy.

'Everton was a bump in the road, I think this is a bigger bump in the road. I don't think it's one of those you worry too much, but maybe tweak a few players here and there. In this game they looked a bit jaded.'

His co-pundit Paul Scholes added that Chelsea didn't deserve the game on the balance of play.

The former Manchester United man said: 'Chelsea as a whole didn't create enough to win the game to be honest.

'(Christian) Pulisic looked good in the first half but then he got tired and you can understand that as he hasn't played much football. But on the balance of play Wolves probably deserved it with that last 20-30 minutes.'
