Gal Gadot gushed about working on Wonder Woman's first solo outing, as she said it was 'a delight' to reunite with director Patty Jenkins for the sequel.

Appearing on The Graham Norton Show, which is set to air on Friday night, the actress, 35, reflected on the 2017 superhero flick, and claimed she and Patty, 49, knew it was 'something special' when they made it.

She said: 'It was everything we hoped for and more. Patty the director and I felt we were doing something special, but it was a first for both of us to do something so big and who knew if it would transcend all our intentions and that people would get it.

'We were super humbled and grateful for the way the movie was received. It was just a delight to come back and work with Patty again.'

Host Graham then asked about her unlikely entrance into the movie industry, citing how she went from being a Miss Universe contestant to becoming one of Hollywood's biggest names.

'I didn't,' Gal explained. 'I went to law school and while studying still did some modelling.

'A casting director came from London to Israel looking for a Bond Girl, saw my card on the agency board and wanted to see me.

Wonder Woman 1984 is now set to be released simultaneously in cinemas and on HBO Max amid the coronavirus crisis.

Last month, Warner Bros. announced that the film would still be released in theatres in the United States on Christmas day, following multiple pushbacks, but subscribers of its streaming service HBO Max would also be able to watch the film at no extra charge the same day.

The move is a departure from the usual supremacy that theatres have in the first few weeks of a film's release.

Wonder Woman 1984 was initially set to release in December of 2019, and was moved up to the month prior to that before being pushed to June 2020 before being delayed due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

That month, the film was delayed further to October, before finally being given a Christmas release date; it will be released in the UK on December 16, and in January 2021 in territories where HBO Max is not available.

The Graham Norton Show airs on BBC One on Friday 11th December 10.45pm. It will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
