© Provided by Washington Examiner Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron responded to a racial attack from MSNBC contributor Michael Eric Dyson, calling it "trash" and "disgusting."
"It's trash," Cameron told the Washington Examiner Friday. "These are the same tired talking points that the Left uses to attack black folks who don't think or act like them. It's disgusting that in 2020, this kind of shameful rhetoric is given a platform on national television. I count Leader McConnell as a friend and mentor and know he cares deeply about improving the lives of black Americans."
Cameron was responding to a segment on MSNBC from Joy Reid's program Thursday night in which Dyson, a political analyst, referred to the black attorney general as Mitch McConnell's ventriloquist dummy who symbolizes a "blackface representation" for the Kentucky senator.
"Look, he then puts forward a blackface representation in Daniel Cameron," Dyson told Reid. "There's a ventriloquism going on. Daniel Cameron's mouth is moving. Mitch McConnell's thoughts are coming through his tongue. This is the worst Geppetto we've ever seen, and pulling those strings is one of the most, is one of the worst white supremacist enactments that we've seen in the last 15 years in American politics."
Dyson also claimed that the "real religion" of America is "whiteness" and that the "politics in McConnell's orbit are whiteness, the worship of whiteness at the altar of whiteness, genuflecting before the god of whiteness."
MSNBC declined to respond to multiple requests for comment from the Washington Examiner.
