Kevin Maguire: We will never have a better future with Boris, Patel and Sunak in power

The incompetent Prime Minister, a Treasury slasher and the Home Office bully are a Conservative Government rotting at its very core.

Britain will never build a better future with Boris Johnson, Rishi Sunak and Priti Patel blundering in important jobs.

What an irony that shallow Johnson's obvious unsuitability would get this blundering, cynical liar dismissed immediately in anything below the most important office of state.

Slick Sunak itching to freeze the pay of virus heroes, cut public spending and hike taxes betrays the anaemic ideology of a blinkered Chancellor incapable of unleashing full-blooded economic growth to power the country back to prosperity.

Humiliated Patel, scandalously protected by the PM despite her damningly aggressive tantrums, is a poster girl for unforgivably bad behaviour

Dominic Cummings' privileged Barnard Castle free pass wasn't an exception. It's a way of governing. One rule for them, another for us.

Patel confirms Johnson's Brexit club is a political elite, a Vote Lie band of renegades pretending to see, hear or speak no evil when dangerous failings trash the nation.

Labour should, of course, be concerned it isn't running up Tony Blair-scale poll leads when Johnson's fumbling so badly and clearly.

On the deadly virus and a Brexit trade deal with valuable neighbours, two of the gravest challenges in post-war history, rare occasions when Johnson's right are almost accidents.

Calling last orders on an English 10pm pub curfew he never justified scientifically would be the flailing of a chancer drunk on soundbites and a stranger to reasoning logically.

Equally the shine's going to fade on an ambitious, over-sold Chancellor straining to move to No 10 from 11 Downing Street.

Sunak forces working families to pay virus bills because he's a prisoner of bankrupt Treasury orthodoxy, squeezing livelihoods as unemployment rockets and services are scythed, and his personal Santa to Scrooge transformation sparks a ferocious backlash.

This is a moment for Labour's cerebral Shadow Chancellor, Anneliese Dodds, to argue why the deficit and debt don't need instant cutting as well as focusing on how both soared under the Tories.

Borrowing's cheap and the solution's long-term.

This Tory unwise three are there for the taking, politically vulnerable.

What happens over the next few months will heavily influence British public opinion for years to come.

There's no vaccine to inoculate a Tory Government against sustained criticism. Labour must land the jabs.
