A woman has proven chivalry isn't dead after her husband spontaneously left her a handwritten note filled with compliments and cash to treat herself for the day.

The Australian mother was surprised to find $50 pinned to the note from her other half who described her as 'beautiful', 'appreciated', 'loved', 'selfless and giving'.

'I love you honey. Just a set of reminders to let you know that your family love and appreciate all you do for us,' the note read.

'Go for a lunchtime scooter ride, treat yourself to lunch and another plant. Love J.'

The wife shared a picture of the note in a Facebook group on Thursday, along with the caption: 'Very good reasons I married this man.'

The post has since been 'liked' more than 1,900 times, with hundreds of women demanding their husbands to step it up.

'Is he available for training sessions? I'd say there's a bunch of us ready to sign our partners up,' one woman joked.

'He's a keeper... not many men like that left in the world,' one woman wrote, while another said: ' Nawww... that is just the sweetest! What a top bloke! Hang on to him.'

One woman added: 'I love happily married stories, not enough of them in the world. Thanks for sharing,' while another said: 'That's beautiful! What a amazing partner in life you have but also you deserve it!'

Many admitted their hearts were 'melting' after reading the man's thoughtful note while others told the woman to 'never' let go of the 'absolute catch'.

One woman joked: 'Does he have a brother that lives in Brisbane?', then a second asked: 'Two brothers...', while a third added: 'Three brothers?'

And another woman asked: 'Does he have a dad who's single? Asking for a friend.'

However, dozens of women insisted chivalry was dead.

'Men don't do this. Aliens have taken over his body! Run! Hide,' one woman joked.

A second said: 'Obviously, there are no working pens at my house - yep that must be it,' while another asked: 'Mine doesn't do this... is this a paid upgrade or is mine just broken?'

And another added: 'I wonder if I reset my hubby's factory settings, he'd do this too?'
