Reigning champion Marc Marquez will not make his MotoGP return at the European Grand Prix this weekend.

Repsol Honda confirmed on Tuesday that Stefan Bradl will continue to stand in for Marquez, who has been sidelined since July having undergone two operations on a broken arm.

The Spaniard initially sustained the injury at the season-opening Spanish Grand Prix and had to undergo a second procedure after damaging a plate that was placed in his arm while opening a window ahead of the second race at Jerez.

Bradl has stood in for Marquez since the Czech Grand Prix, accumulating 12 points by finishing eighth in Le Mans and 12th in Aragon.

He will feature at Valencia in the first part of a triple-header to conclude the 2020 MotoGP season.

"I am very pleased that the Repsol Honda team have continued to put their faith in me and return to ride the RC213V again," said Bradl in a statement.

"We have done some testing at Valencia in the past and in Aragon we made a good step with the bike. I think we can have a good weekend here and again battle with riders further ahead as we did in Aragon and Le Mans as well.

"Always at around this time of the year in Valencia the temperature, especially in the morning, can be critical so we will have to pay attention to this."
