Beyoncé Knowles-Carter announced Wednesday she is aiding Nigerian protesters amid ongoing unrest over alleged law enforcement abuses in the country.

Nigerians have demonstrated since early this month against SARS, a squad started in 1992 to thwart violent crimes including robberies and kidnapping, USA Today reported.

Amnesty International, a non-governmental human rights organization, has accused SARS officer of multiple abuses, including torture and killings.

Beyoncé took to Twitter Wednesday via her BeyGOOD initiative to announce, "To our Nigerian sisters and brothers, we stand by you."

The letter offered additional information alerting the public about which organizations support Nigerian protesters, such as the Feminist Coalition and Connected Development.

"We have been working on partnerships with youth organizations to support those protesting for change. We are collaborating with coalitions to provide emergency healthcare, food and shelter," Beyoncé added.

In response to the protests, Nigerian Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu called on Oct. 11 for SARS to be disbanded, though it is reported officers are being deployed to other police units.

Celebrities including Gabrielle Union, Rihanna and John Boyega have also spoken out against SARS in recent weeks.

"It's such a betrayal to the citizens, the very people put in place to protect are the ones we are most afraid of being murdered by," Rihanna said, adding, "My heart is broken for Nigeria man!! It is unbearable to watch! I'm so proud of your strength and not letting up on the fight for what's right!"

"The Daily Show" host Trevor Noah used his "If You Don't Know Now You Know" segment Tuesday to educate viewers about the unrest in Nigeria, comparing it to U.S. protests against police brutality.

Other artists such as Chance The Rapper and Kanye West also voiced support for Nigerian protesters earlier this month.
