A Vermont fire chief was injured last week when ammunition inside a burning mobile home went off and hit him.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Saturday in in Hinesburg, Vt. when firefighters responded to the blaze.

The crew was prevented from trying to stop the fire earlier because stray rounds continued to fire off. The fire chief sustained a minor injury.

According to WCAX-TV, investigators believe a cigarette butt was not extinguished properly and ignited pine shrubs next to the home.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported. A neighboring home also also sustained heavy fire damage in the fire.
