Corrie's Jennie McAlpine would have preferred I'm a Celebrity in UK

Not everyone is going to love I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here's brand new location for its 2020 series, but former contestant and Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine would have much preferred this year's camp.

Jennie, who finished fourth in 2017's I'm a Celebrity, spoke to Radio Times about ITV's decision to move its camp to Gwrych Castle, Abergele in North Wales - and it turns out she's a bit jealous of this year's line-up.

Because far from being scared of Australia's native creepy crawlies, it was the heat that worried her ahead of the show. "[Wales] would have been ideal for me... because I'm a red head so it was a real worry going to Australia," the Fiz Brown actress admitted.

"That was one of my biggest fears, that it's going to be too hot."

She continued: "Everyone else was thinking, 'Bikini, sunbathing' and I was dreading it, but actually on our year, it chucked it down all the time. Everyone else was gutted but I was secretly pleased. So Wales would suit me perfectly."

While I'm a Celebrity's move from New South Wales to Wales may have suited Jennie better, previous winner Vicky Pattison recently revealed she thinks the new location will make the experience harder for stars.

Not least because there'll be "a lot more sheep testicles".

"I do think they're going to find that really hard. It's just going to add another dynamic to it," she said of the move. "I think I would struggle, because you fire yourself up. You get all excited that you're going to be in the jungle shower, and in the famous camp."

2015's Queen of the Jungle is looking forward to the new series nonetheless. "Now it is going to be really different," Vicky added. "[And] on the plus side, they're the first to ever do this, they're paving the way for something new."

I'm a Celebrity will return later this year on ITV.
