An upstate New York woman was charged with hitting a 59-year-old woman on a bicycle with her pickup truck during a protest, in an incident captured on video, police said Friday.
Joanna Gollnau, 25, faces two charges after striking the woman on Wednesday night in Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo, authorities said.
She was slapped with a felony reckless endangerment charge, as well as another for reckless driving, officials said.
The victim, identified by a local bicyclist group Slow Roll Buffalo as Karen Huffman, was hospitalized after being struck in stable condition.
Video shows the pickup truck burst through a crowd of protestors, striking the woman, then speeding away. Several people can be seen chasing after the vehicle.
Niagara Square is where a police officer was captured on video knocking a 75-year-old protestor to the ground back in June. The elderly man struck his head and was hospitalized.
Two officers were suspended in the wake of the incident, which sparked national outrage.
