Arsenal are closing in on a new replacement keeper after agreeing a £1.6million fee with French club Dijon for Runar Alex Runarsson.
Mikel Arteta is missing a shot-stopper in his squad after the club allowed Emiliano Martinez to mvoe to Premier League rivals Aston Villa this week.
Runarsson, who had made 36 Ligue 1 appearances for his club in which he conceded 61 times, is due in London for a medical on Thursday, ahead of completing the switch. © Provided by Daily MailRunar Alex Runarsson is due in London on Thursday for a medical ahead of joining Arsenal
It is not thought, however, that the deal for the 25-year-old will be completed in time for him to be picked for this weekend's clash with West Ham.
Arsenal had been linked with Brentford's David Raya, who worked under goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana in west London before the Spaniard departed to join Arteta's backroom staff.
It is believed that Runarsson is another goalkeeper who Cana had been keeping tabs on, with reported interest from the Bees not leading to a deal to sign the former FC Nordsjaelland player.
Meanwhile, it appears Sead Kolasinac could be the next player to depart the Emirates Stadium with the PA news agency understanding talks have opened with Bayer Leverkusen over a potential return to Germany for the left-back. © Provided by Daily MailRunarsson made 36 appearances for Dijon in Ligue 1, conceding 61 goals in those matches
