Preston North End central defender Ben Davies is likely to sign a pre-contract agreement with Celtic in January, as per reports.
The 25-year-old has been the subject of interest from the Hoops all summer and recently Championship side AFC Bournemouth made an offer for him too.
The Deepdale club swiftly rejected the approach from the south coast side and reiterated their desire to keep their talismanic centre-back.
However, with the player well into the final year of his current contract, and with hopes fading of Davies extending his stay in Lancashire, Neil Lennon's side are hopeful of agreeing on a pre-contract deal in January when the Preston man may discuss his future with other clubs.
Lennon is in no rush for central defensive reinforcements having signed Shane Duffy from Brighton on a season-long loan deal.
Davies' 111 appearances in the Championship have earned him many plaudits and having come through the ranks at the club, he may now be seeking a fresh challenge.
Parkhead could offer that in terms of regular European football and the opportunity to compete for a vast array of trophies.
Lennon would be delighted to secure Davies for next season as the defender continues to develop and may well spend his peak years with the Scottish champions.
