Authorities are scrambling to locate the cause of a power outage that has left thousands of properties without power across Sydney's upper north shore and Hills district.
Supply was interrupted at midday on Wednesday to about 26,000 properties across parts of Hornsby, Waitara, Asquith, Hornsby Heights, Wahroonga, Galston, Mount Colah and Normanhurst, Ausgrid said.
"Emergency crews will need to isolate the fault before they can begin restoring power safely," the company said in a statement.
About 30 sets of traffic lights are out across several suburbs on the upper north shore as a result, a Transport Management Centre spokeswoman said.
"The traffic through the area is, however, not too bad at the moment and there are not any long delays as a result," the spokeswoman said.
More to come.
